Weekly Shopping Trip...or lack thereof

Based on my past history, this is a miracle...I did not shop this week.

I'm serious.

I didn't set foot in a store.

Not once.

We are headed out of town tomorrow morning and won't be back until Sunday so...no shopping for the rest of the week. This also means no posts until I get back. I'll miss you :)!

I have been over budget a lot lately, so this is really good for me and my $2,600 annual budget ($50.00 per week). So far this year I have spent $983.45 on groceries (food, household items, toiletries, and diapers). This is an average of $57.85 for the year. Not as bad as I thought I was.
This feels good. You should try it!

The Diaper Dilemma

I have done fairly well with my $50.00 per week budget. I know that I can do even better. I have been toying with the idea of adding diapers into my grocery budget without increasing my $50.00 per week plan.

After some careful contemplation and number crunching, I am going to take the dreaded plunge.

My diaper expenses over the past six months have averaged about $52.00 per month with two kids in diapers. I am happy to report that my 3 year old is FINALLY on the potty training bandwagon and is down to a pull-up at night (I was given a jumbo pack of pull-ups several months ago, so I haven't had to buy any yet, and hopefully won't for awhile!).

I also have about 4 jumbo packs of diapers built up for my daughter, so I feel confident that I can wait for a sale (such as this one :) and pay very little OOP for diapers until my daughter is ready (she is only 17 months).

Wish me luck!
