I have done fairly well with my $50.00 per week budget. I know that I can do even better. I have been toying with the idea of adding diapers into my grocery budget without increasing my $50.00 per week plan.
After some careful contemplation and number crunching, I am going to take the dreaded plunge.
My diaper expenses over the past six months have averaged about $52.00 per month with two kids in diapers. I am happy to report that my 3 year old is FINALLY on the potty training bandwagon and is down to a pull-up at night (I was given a jumbo pack of pull-ups several months ago, so I haven't had to buy any yet, and hopefully won't for awhile!).
I also have about 4 jumbo packs of diapers built up for my daughter, so I feel confident that I can wait for a sale (such as this one :) and pay very little OOP for diapers until my daughter is ready (she is only 17 months).

I know your probably not open to the idea of cloth diapers, I wasn't until I did a bunch of research. But, just to get you thinking, you could do just a couple cloth diapers per day, or even only at night, and that would save you TONS of money!!
You can buy really nice used ones or even cheaper versions as well. Its not any grosser than dealing with disposables, I promise!
Just something to ponder...
Good luck! :-)
I have 2 in diapers (2 year old not showing any interest in using "the big potty" yet and a 9 month old). I try to factor diapers into my food budget. My food budget is higher then yours but sometimes I still go over (usually when I have to buy them). The baby's skin is sensitive so I have to stay brand loyal. No it isn't Huggies so no Walgreen's trip for me this week. I have managed to build up a very small stash but it never seems to last long!
Keep me posted on how it goes!
Erin,
Actually I have thought about cloth diapers quite a bit. I had to go back to work with both of my kids so I got into the habit of disposals. I'm not so sure that my *finicky* daughter would wear cloth. I may buy a few to try out...
