Works for me Wednesday - Jello Snacks

I don't know about you, but I hate paying for jello pudding and gelatin cups. Even with coupons (if there ever are any) they are so expensive. I love having them around for a quick snack, though.

The other day I was at the store and I saw some small 1/2 cup sized gladware. Hmmm...that seemed to be about the same size as a jello gelatin cup. I decided to give it a try.

Several times since I started my couponing adventure Walgreen's has had Royal gelatin on sale for 5 for $1.00 (that's 20 cents folks!), so I have a ton of it.

I spread out a small can (.50) of mandarin oranges between 6 cups. I prepared the jello as normal and poured into the cups over the oranges.

Then I just put the lids on and popped them in the fridge. For $.70 I got six jello cups (I used sugar free jello), filled with fruit - a great quick snack.

Later that same day my daughter wouldn't finish a whole banana so I cut up the rest of it and made some strawberry banana jello cups too! I love it when I can save food from the garbage!

Now that I have 12 of these 1/2 gladware cups, I will keep using them for Jello and I plan to use them for pudding as well. It works for me!

Love this idea. For how long do you think you can keep these in the fridge?

what a great idea! I love it! How do you stop your family from using the containers for other things? :) Guess I'll have to keep them filled all the time, huh? :)

Anonymous - I have kept them in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and they have been fine.

Kindall Klan - I do use them for other things sometimes. They are great for salad dressing when I pack my hubby's lunch, but when I have six clean I grab them and make more!
