I went shopping!!!!!

Last month was my first Monthly Mission where I challenged myself to spend only $100.00 on groceries for my family of 4. I made it with $.62 to spare! After depriving myself for a month, I did a bit of grocery shopping on Saturday and spent $85.88! Yikes, but I got a lot of things I was needing and was able to stock up on some great deals. My goal budget is $200.00 per month or $50.00 per week, so I am still under my monthly budget. I just won't spend that much this next week. My first stop was the bakery thrift shop. I got:
4 loaves of bread - $8.40

2 packages of hot dog buns - $1.64

Total OOP: $10.64

My next stop was Fred Meyer where I spent $16.53 on all this stuff:

2 Gallons Milk - $5.00

Cheerios - $2.00

4 Darigold chocolate milk - $4.00

6 Yoplait yogurt - $3.00

3 bags Hall's - $3.00

1 Stew Meat - $1.79 (clearanced)

1 pint reduced buttermilk - $.59 (clearanced)

1 pint reduced half and half - $.69 (clearanced)

Total before coupons: $21.28

Coupons used:

2 $1.00 off 2 Darigold

1 $1.00 off cheerios

2 $.50 off Hall's

1 $.35 off Hall's

1 $.40 off 6 Yoplait

Total OOP: $16.53

My next stop was to Winco Foods where I picked up some necessities:

2 pints Sour Cream - $2.36

1 bunch of green onions - $.48

1 bagged salad - $1.78

1 bag shredded Parmesan cheese - $1.84

1 10# bag potatoes - $3.48

1 2# bag carrots - $.88

1 colby jack cheese - $5.42

1 lasagne noodles - $1.46

1 18ct eggs - $2.07

1 1.5# ground beef - $3.23

1 family pack chicken breast - $8.01

Total OOP: $32.87

Then I came home and cooked all of the chicken, cubed it and bagged it into meal sized portions. I also tried this Once a Month Cooking project with potatoes. Instead of putting the mashed potatoes into muffin tins, though, I scooped them onto a cookie sheet using my Pampered Chef large scoop. I didn't make all 10 pounds, I made a total of 20 baked potatoes, scooped out the insides and mashed them and we ate potato skins for an evening snack (so yummy by the way!).

My husband also informed me that he *desperately* needed some ice cream, so I headed back over to Fred Meyer. They must have just marked down the soon to be expired meat, because I found some great deals that I couldn't resist. I will stick these in the freezer. Here is what I ended up with:

2 FM ice cream - $7.00

6 Foster Farms grilled chicken breast strips - $7.74 ($1.29 each!)

1 Hormel Bacon - $2.49

1 FM ibuprofen - $2.99

1 1# Foster Farms lunch meat - $.99

No coupons - total OOP: $22.49

Now that I have spent a good portion of my monthly budget, I will just sit tight and use what I have and pick up a few things - Fred Meyer has 1/2 gallons of milk, chocolate milk, and OJ for $1.00 this week, I know I will get some of that with all my milk drinkers!

Good job on the deals!
Which FM do you shop at? I go to the Meridian one but I don't think I've ever seen lunchmeat or dairy products on clearance. Maybe I just don't know where to look?

I go to the one at Glenwood and State. I don't think it is as busy as the one in Meridian. I always find markdowns. Once I found bags of Kraft shredded cheese for .99 each!

Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking you mean Glenwood/Chinden? Anyways, I'll have to stop at that one once in a while, its not really out of my way.
And isn't that Private Selection ice cream of theirs sooo good?! We love their vanilla for milkshakes, and I love the chocolate chip. Bummer it wasn't on sale for you this week. I like to buy it when its on 2/5. I think the Breyers is on sale there this week.
I'm going to have to go check out this Albertsons sale this week too. I'm so glad to finally find a couple of blogs that give deals for our area!
